Your schedule is hectic and you have so much to do each and every day. From going to work, running errands on your lunch to taking the kids to soccer practice, you probably feel stressed. There is a simple solution which will help you to take control of your time and reduce your stress.
You can feel more grounded and less overwhelmed by starting every morning with a simple ritual. The few minutes that you spend in your morning ritual will provide a solid foundation for the rest of your day.
1) Begin each morning with gratitude.
If you know me or get to know me online, you will know that gratitude is a very important subject to me. When was the last time that you were truly thankful for all the positive and good things present in your life? By starting your morning with a feeling of true gratitude, your whole world view will change for the better. Negative or stressful situations will present moments of growth rather than anxiety. A traffic jam will give you a few minutes to listen to a favorite song on the radio. Your house may be messy but at least you have a house. You get the picture. In the morning, you can write in your journal or mentally think about all the good things in your life. You can begin with saying “I am thankful for…”
2) Make time to meditate for 5 minutes.
Meditation is a proven stress reducer and improves your mental acuity. Five or more minutes of meditation every morning can help calm anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed by the demands of the day. Meditation gives you a few minutes of peace and quiet reflection. It will also improve your ability to react to stressful situations with sharper focus rather than react with anxiousness.
3) Wake up your body with Yoga or stretches.
Your mind is awake, now it is time to wake up your body! Start the day right by practicing Yoga or stretching for a few minutes each morning. A morning practice of even just 10 minutes will energize and invigorate you. You will feel more alive and ready to tackle your day.
4) Write down your top 3 MITs (most important tasks).
Rather than run around all day trying to get everything accomplished with no set plan, start the day by prioritizing. Write down the 3 most important tasks towards your goals and 3 important tasks for the day and make sure that you complete these first. You will feel a sense of accomplishment when you can check these off the to do list. You can then concentrate on the less important tasks and the rest of your day will run smoothly. By doing this for 3 years, you can completely transform your life and reach your goals.
5) Eat a healthy breakfast.
Don’t skip breakfast! You may not get a chance to eat healthy all day so start the day right with a wholesome, nutrient rich breakfast. A good breakfast will fuel your busy day and give you the energy and nutrition you need to feel your best.
